On this page
This copyright policy explains what 1stepGrow owns, what you may do with it, and how to tell us if you believe material on our site infringes your rights. It applies to every reader, contributor and rights holder who uses, writes for or is featured on 1stepGrow. For practical guidance on quoting, reprinting and syndication, see our content licensing page.
Who owns the content on 1stepGrow
Unless a page states otherwise, all content on 1stepGrow is © 1stepGrow, all rights reserved. That covers the news, analysis, tutorials, comparisons, rankings, roadmaps, guides, recognition lists and graphics produced for the site.
A few exceptions apply:
- Guest contributions. Contributors grant 1stepGrow a licence to publish their work when it is accepted, on the terms described in our terms and conditions. Contributors share approved drafts with us as a view-only Google Docs link, and the published version appears under their byline.
- Author photos. Photos of writers belong to the individual writers, not to 1stepGrow.
- Third-party material. Quotes, screenshots, product names, logos and data from other sources belong to their owners and appear on 1stepGrow for reporting, review or commentary.
Cover images are graphics generated for 1stepGrow and may not be reused without our permission.
What this copyright policy protects
This copyright policy protects the original material 1stepGrow creates or commissions, in whatever form it appears on the site:
- written text, including news, analysis, guides and interview features
- tables, comparison matrices, and the selection and arrangement of ranked lists
- career roadmaps and step-by-step learning paths
- graphics, cover images and illustrations made for the site
- code examples in tutorials (see the next section for how you may use them)
- the site's design, layout and page templates
- the "1stepGrow" name and logo, which identify our publication and are protected as marks
Facts and ideas are not owned by anyone. You are free to report a fact you learned from us in your own words, and we appreciate a credit and link when you do.
Code snippets in tutorials
You may copy, adapt and run code snippets from our Python and data tutorials in your own projects. Using a snippet as working code inside your own script, notebook or application is fine, and a comment crediting the tutorial is appreciated.
Three limits apply:
- Republishing needs a licence. Reproducing a tutorial, meaning its explanations, structure and code together, on a website, in a video, in a book or in course material needs a licence. See content licensing.
- Other licences still apply. Libraries, frameworks and sample datasets used in a tutorial remain under their own licences, so check those terms before you ship anything.
- No warranty. Tutorial code is written for learning. Test it before relying on it, and read our disclaimer.
Permitted personal use
You may read, print and save 1stepGrow pages for your own personal, non-commercial reference and study. In particular, you may:
- keep a copy of a page for offline reading or revision
- share links with friends, classmates or colleagues
- quote short extracts with credit and a link, as described on our content licensing page
- rely on fair dealing under section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957, for purposes such as private use, research, criticism, review and reporting on current events
Prohibited use
You may not reuse 1stepGrow content in ways that take our work or misrepresent where it came from. Without our written permission, you may not:
- Copy or mirror articles, tutorials, lists or whole sections on another website, app, feed or document.
- Remove credits, including author bylines, credit lines, copyright notices or links to the original.
- Frame our pages inside another site so they appear to be part of it.
- Pass off our work as your own, or use the "1stepGrow" name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or are connected with you.
- Falsely claim recognition, such as saying you were featured on our 25 Tech Leaders or 30 Under 30 lists when you were not.
- Scrape in bulk or build datasets from our content, except as allowed on our content licensing page.
- Sell or bundle our content into paid products, courses or reports.
Reporting infringement of your work on 1stepGrow
If you believe content on 1stepGrow infringes your copyright, send a written notice to contacts@1stepgrow.com with the subject line "Copyright notice". You can send it yourself as the owner, or someone authorised to act for you can send it. A complete notice includes:
- Your contact details: your full name, email address and postal address, and whom you represent if you act for someone else.
- Identification of the work: a description of the work you own and where the original is published.
- The exact URL on our site: the specific 1stepGrow page, plus the passage, image or code you are concerned about.
- Proof of ownership or authorisation: for example, a link to your original with its publication date, registration details, or written authorisation from the owner. Links are preferred to attachments.
- A good-faith statement: that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, the owner's agent or the law.
- An accuracy statement: that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorised to act for the owner.
- Your signature: a physical or electronic signature of the owner or authorised person.
Incomplete notices may take longer to resolve, because we will need to ask for the missing details first. Our site forms accept text only, not file uploads, so please send notices by email.
How we handle a copyright notice
We handle copyright notices under the Copyright Act, 1957 and, where applicable, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The process runs in this order:
- Acknowledgement within 24 hours. We confirm by email that we have received your notice.
- Review and action within 15 days. We review the notice and act within 15 days, and sooner in clear cases such as a word-for-word copy. Action can include removing or disabling access to the material, editing it or, if you agree, adding the credit you are owed.
- Contributor notified. If a contributor supplied the material, we tell them about the notice and share its substance, which may include your name, so they can respond. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal details.
- Counter-notice. A contributor or other affected person who believes the material does not infringe, for example because they own it, hold a licence or the use is fair dealing, can send a counter-notice to the same address. It should include their contact details, the URL, their reasons, good-faith and accuracy statements, and a signature. We share it with the person who sent the original notice.
- Content restored or kept down. After considering both sides, we either restore the content or keep it down, and we tell both parties the outcome. We keep material down where the rights holder shows a court order or evidence of legal proceedings, or where our review supports the complaint.
- Repeat infringers. We do not accept further contributions from anyone found to have infringed copyright repeatedly.
Misuse of the notice process
The notice process is for genuine copyright claims only, and we may decline notices that misuse it. Sending a notice you know to be false or misleading may expose you to legal liability. We will not remove accurate reporting, criticism or review simply because someone objects to it; if you think we got a fact wrong, use our correction policy instead. We may also set aside notices that are incomplete, that repeat a claim already decided without new information, or that appear intended to suppress legitimate coverage.
Reporting copying of our content elsewhere
If you find 1stepGrow content copied on another website without credit or a licence, tell us at contacts@1stepgrow.com with the subject line "Copied content". Include the URL of the copy, the URL of our original and, if you know it, when the copy appeared. We review every report and decide what steps to take, which may include contacting the site owner or its host.
If you run a site that republished our work by mistake, email us. We would rather arrange a proper licence than start a dispute.

Copyright notices, counter-notices and related grievances can be sent to our Grievance Officer by email.
