This page explains how you can reuse the articles, tutorials, tables and graphics published on 1stepGrow, and which uses need a written licence first. It applies to anyone who wants to quote, republish, translate, syndicate or collect our content, including publishers, companies, educators, researchers, developers and AI services. Our copyright policy sets out who owns the material; this page covers how you may use it.
What you can do without asking
You can link to, briefly quote and share any 1stepGrow page without contacting us, as long as you credit the source.
- Link to any page. Deep links to individual articles, tutorials, roadmaps and lists are welcome, and you do not need to tell us.
- Quote a short excerpt. We suggest no more than 60 words from a single article. Name the author, credit "1stepGrow" and add a followed link (no
nofollowattribute) to the original URL. - Share on social media. Post the headline, the link and the automatic preview card, with a comment of your own if you like.
When you quote us, keep the words unchanged and in context, mark any cuts with an ellipsis, and do not suggest that 1stepGrow or the author endorses you, your product or your views.
Common uses and whether they need a licence
Most everyday reuse is free with credit, while anything that copies a substantial part of our work needs a written licence. The table below covers the requests we see most often.

Licence types we offer
Every 1stepGrow licence is granted in writing and covers only the content, medium, territory and period it names.
Single-use reprint licence
A single-use reprint licence lets you republish one article, once, in one named publication or medium. It suits a print magazine, a report, a company blog post or a conference handout.
Ongoing syndication licence
A syndication licence lets you republish selected 1stepGrow articles on a regular basis for an agreed period. Every syndicated copy must use a rel=canonical tag pointing to our original and carry a visible credit line, as described in the next section.
Translation licence
A translation licence lets you publish an agreed article in a named language. You are responsible for an accurate translation, the translated page must link back to the original, and we may ask to review it before it goes live.
Educational and non-profit licence
An educational licence covers schools, colleges, universities, libraries and non-profit organisations that want to copy our material for teaching or public-interest work. Where the use is genuinely non-commercial, we may grant it free of charge. It does not cover fee-charging training or courses.
Data and dataset licence
A data licence covers structured reuse of our tables, comparison matrices, rankings or bulk text, whether for research, analytics, software products or model training. The licence sets out the scope, volume, storage, attribution and deletion terms for your project.
Syndication technical requirements
Syndicated copies must point search engines back to the original and tell readers where the article first appeared. These conditions apply to every syndication licence unless the licence itself says otherwise.
- Canonical tag. Each republished page must include a canonical link to the original in its
<head>, for example<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.1stepgrow.com/original-article/">. - Credit line. Show a visible line at the top or bottom of the article in this form: This article was first published on 1stepGrow. Read the original at [linked URL]. Keep the author's byline.
- No edits that change meaning. You may adjust formatting, image placement and spelling conventions. You may not alter facts, rankings, quotes, conclusions or the author's opinions, and you may not insert promotional links into the body text.
- Updates and corrections. When we update or correct the original under our correction policy, carry the change over to your copy promptly.
- Removal on request. If we ask you to take down a syndicated copy, for example because of a legal complaint or because the licence has ended, remove it promptly.
Recommended attribution format
Good attribution names the work, the author and 1stepGrow, and links directly to the original page. Use this pattern wherever you quote or republish our content:

Online, link the title to the original URL. In print, slides or video, show the full URL so people can find the source.
What we never license
1stepGrow cannot license material it does not own, and some things it will not license at all.
- Author photos and personal details. Photos belong to the individual writers, and we do not license the names, photos, biographies or contact details of anyone who appears on the site. Profiles on our authors page are there for reader transparency, not reuse.
- Third-party material we quote. Quotes, screenshots, logos, statistics and other material from outside sources remain the property of their owners. Ask them directly.
- Trademarks. A licence to reuse an article does not let you use the "1stepGrow" name or logo, except in the credit line, and it never grants rights in anyone else's trademarks mentioned in our coverage.
Guest contributors and interviewees
Guest contributors grant 1stepGrow a licence to publish their work on acceptance, as set out in our terms and conditions, so our licences can only cover what that grant allows. Where a contributor keeps rights in their article, we may route your request to the author or ask for their agreement before granting a licence, which can take longer.
If you want to reuse an interviewee's answers from our interview features, a short credited quote is fine. Longer reuse needs our licence and, in some cases, the interviewee's agreement as well. Writers who want to contribute can start with write for us.
Automated access and AI systems
Answer engines and AI assistants are welcome to read and cite 1stepGrow, provided they credit us and link to the page they draw on. Our robots.txt file allows these services, and we publish an /llms.txt file that describes the site.
- Welcome: reading pages to answer a user's question, summarising them, and citing the source page by name with a link.
- Needs a written licence: bulk scraping, mirroring or archiving our pages, building or selling a dataset from our content, training or fine-tuning a model on it, or returning full articles in place of a link.
- Always required: follow robots.txt, identify your crawler honestly and keep request rates reasonable.
We block a small number of aggressive crawlers. Working around a block, for example by disguising a user agent or rotating addresses, is not permitted. Our AI content policy explains how we use AI tools in our own publishing.
How to request a licence
To request a licence, email contacts@1stepgrow.com with the subject line "Licensing request". A plain-text email is enough, and you do not need to send attachments. Please include:
- the URL of each article, table or graphic you want to use
- your intended use, such as a reprint, syndication, translation, training material or a dataset
- the medium, such as a website, app, print, newsletter, learning platform, slides or data product
- your audience and territory
- how long you want to use the content
- whether the use is commercial or non-commercial
- your name, organisation and website
Response time
We aim to reply within 5 working days of receiving a complete request. Syndication and dataset requests, or requests that need an author's agreement, can take longer. No reply does not mean permission, so wait for a written licence before you publish.
Fees
Licence fees depend on the use, so we quote them on request. We consider the amount of content, the medium, audience, territory and duration, and whether the use is commercial. Educational and non-profit licences may be granted free.
Fair dealing under Indian law
Section 52 of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 allows fair dealing with a work for certain purposes, such as private or personal use including research, criticism or review, and reporting on current events, without it counting as infringement. Whether a particular use is fair depends on its facts, including how much is taken and why. Other countries apply their own rules. Even when you rely on fair dealing, we ask that you credit and link to the original. This summary is general information, not legal advice.
